The Inherent Dishonesty of Bill Maher’s “Question”.

I want to keep this brief because it is addressing a run-of-the-mill, dumb donkey, mundane type of ignorance, that doesn’t deserve a lot of energy.

Recently, in an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher asked a 4chan level of questioning that basically boils down to ‘What’s wrong with Black people?’, when it comes to Chicago, gun violence, and income inequality.

Bill Maher isn’t the first smug, condescending, old White guy to play the ‘I’m just asking questions’ game when it comes to Black people and our communities. He sits right alongside other such luminaries as Adam Corolla, Howard Stern, Steven Crowder, Joe Rogan, Bill O’Reilly, Tucker Carlson, and many others.

These men aren’t special. Their views aren’t new, unique, witty, daring, or insightful. Maher, and the rest of these guys, are all identical to the embarrassing fathers, uncles, or grandfathers, countless people wish they could keep from posting on social media.

In fact, I want to prove to you just how painfully basic this sort of ignorance is. Years ago, I responded to this sort of questioning about so-called ‘Black-on-Black’ violence with a lot more patience. I once genuinely believed communication could help us all perhaps find common ground or clear up any misunderstandings.
